The wolf is my husband’s totem, so we’ve adopted that as our family totem. Dandelions, while a nuisance to our lawn, are an unfailing delight to children, and the Zen Buddhist monk whose work I’ve been interested in since college, Thich Nhat Hanh, uses an anecdote of a dandelion holding our smile for us when we find ourselves unable to smile. (“My smile is gone, but don’t worry–the Dandelion has it.”)
“Dandelions in the Wolf Den” will be about me, Alpha, and our little wolf pup finding the smiles in the ups and downs of our family’s life together.
